How did the Neumanns meet?

According to Rebekah, there was a magnetic connection between them from the start. “There was an energy between us that felt like it was bigger than just the two of us from the second I met Adam,” she said.

In his eyes, Rebekah saw it somewhat differently. He stated at his 2017 Baruch College Commencement Address: “Now, I clarify five minutes to be polite, but it honestly took ten seconds – (Rebekah) looked me straight in the eye and said, ‘You, my friend, are full of s***.’ Every word that comes out of your mouth is phony,’ she informed me.”

On the contrary, because they had seen each other in such a short period of time, they were determined to make it work. They married one year later, and have been happily married since.

Do Adam and Rebekah Neumann have children?

Yes, the pair have six children, including two sets of triplets, as stated by Harper’s Bazaar. They welcomed their first daughter, Elle, in 2011 — she will be 11 years old in 2022.

WeWork members Manhattan private school WeGrow, directed by Rebekah, was part of the network. The 44-year-old mother of three failed to discover a suitable institution for her children, so she developed a curriculum focused on the “six pillars of growth” according to Forbes.

The children attended WeGrow, where tuition fees ranged from $22,000 to $24,000. After Adam decided he wanted to get out of the “toxic energy” surrounding his firm’s collapse, the Neumanns relocated to New York City and enrolled their kids at WeGrow until they moved away.

According to the Times, the family has traveled via charter plane to South America and Israel since 2019, with staff such as nannies and security accompanying them. The children attended a Tel Aviv school for a time before returning to New York in 2020, where they stayed on Rebekah’s cousin Gwyneth Paltrow’s estate in Amagansett.

What happened to WeWork?

The company’s rapid expansion has resulted in a $7.1 billion valuation and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of losses for WeWork, according to the Guardian. It all went wrong for WeWork after it announced regulatory papers for an initial public offering (IPO) of shares in August 2019. Six weeks later, Neumann voted to step down as CEO and give up his majority control of WeWork’s stock.

The firm’s planned IPO valuation had plummeted by more than half, and it was called off. SoftBank, the company’s largest investor, subsequently acquired WeWork following its discovery that it was hemorrhaging money and making overly optimistic estimates of the size of the shared office space market.

In 2021, San Francisco-based real estate developer and investor Matador Capital Management acquired a controlling stake in WeWork for $245 million in company stock, according to the Guardian.
