Dan Haggerty Net Worth $2.5 Million

Dan Haggerty was born to Donald Paul Haggerty and Ruth Elaine Leonhardt and he grew up in a family which owned a small wild animal farm, so since an early age he raised wild animals – one of them was a black bear that performed tricks. While in high school, he decided on a career in the acting world. Thus, Dan’s professional career began in the 1960s, when he was cast as Biff, the muscle man in the film “Muscle Beach Party” (1964) and his net worth was established. This appearance was followed by a string of small roles in films such as “Girl Happy” (1965), “Sail To Glory” (1967), and “Easy Rider” (1969). Until his big breakthrough in 1974, Dan also appeared in the films such as “The Tender Warrior” (1971), “Bury Me An Angel” (1972), and “When The North Wind Blows” (1973). His net worth was rising.

1974 was a turning point of his career, as he was selected for the lead role of James Capen Adams in the film “The Life And Times Of Grizzly Adams”, and ever since then his career went only upwards, and so did his net worth, until his death. Three years after the film, a TV series with the same name was launched, airing for two seasons throughout 1977 and 1978, largely increasing Dan’s net worth.

In the role of James Grizzly Adams, he was also in the cast in the films “Once Upon A Starry Night” (1978), “Legend Of The Wilds” (1981), and “The Capture OF Grizzly Adams” (1982).

To speak further of his accomplishments as an actor, Dan appeared in films such as “Ladies Night” (1983), “King OF The Mountain” (1981), “Repo Jake” (1990), “The Channeler” (1990) among others, all of which added to his net worth.

Apart from his role as Grizzly Adams, Dan had a few other memorable roles, such as Joe Evans in the film “Abducted” (1986), and in its sequel “Abducted II: The Reunion” (1995), and as Jeremiah in the films “Grizzly Mountain” (1997), and “Escape To Grizzly Mountain” (2000). Before he left the entertainment industry, Dan appeared in the films “Motocross Kids” (2004), “Big Stan” (2007), “Dead In 5 Heartbeats”, and most recently “40 Nights” (2016), and “Untold Story” (2016), which also benefited his net worth.

Thanks to his accomplishment in the acting industry, he earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on the 1st February in 1994.

Regarding his personal life, Dan Haggerty was married twice, firstly to Diane Rooker from 1959 until 1984, and they had two daughters. Soon after, he married Samantha Hilton, with whom he had three children, and the couple was together until she died in a motorcycle accident in 2008. His residence was in Malibu Canyon, on a small ranch, where he raised wild animals. He died at the age of 74 of spinal cancer.

3The online Press-Telegram obituary said that Haggarty passed away at home in San Fernando Valley, California. However, the Press-Telegram Early Weekend edition, January 16-17, 2016 and the Hollywood Reporter obituary quoted his manager, Terry Bomar to the Hollywood Reporter as saying that Haggarty died at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
4His famous beard caught fire from a careless restaurant patron carrying a flaming cocktail (1977).
5Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7070 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on February 1, 1994.
6The reason for the confusion on the Walk of Fame stars was not simply the similar names but that Dan's father was Don Haggerty. He was the head of the Film Processing Union (#683) when his son got that "big break". He was a producer and director.

Eventually, Dan received a legitimate star, currently located in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
11Sentenced to 90 days in County Jail and three years' probation for furnishing cocaine to two undercover policemen (1984).
12Opened "Haggerty's Bistro" in Studio City, California (1991).
